Freezing rain and sleet moved into parts of Butler County Monday morning causing some slick conditions for drivers.
Several accidents were reported- including two on Rt. 356 in Jefferson Township, one of which involved a school bus. The school bus crash happened about 9 a.m. near Bonniebrook Road. There were no reports of any serious injuries.
When the school bus crash happened, traffic on Rt. 356 was already backed up due to an earlier crash near Marwood Road.
Other accidents were reported on Route 422 in Butler Township, and Route 8 in Penn Township.
The Oakland Township road department said there were several slick roads in the area and it was hard to keep up.
At 8 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Butler and the surrounding counties warning that “light freezing rain could reach the ground over the next few hours.” After noon, we should be dry with a high near 40 degrees.
