Two people were killed in a fire early Monday morning in the City of Butler.
The fire started about 2 a.m. in the 300 block of East Brady Street, between Franklin and Elm streets.
“The home was fully engulfed in flames when we arrived. We tried to get into the front door but the door only opened partially,” Butler City Fire Captain Kevin McAfee said. “We then attacked it from the porch through the windows as best we could.”
Officials say a man’s body was found in a hallway and a woman’s body was found in a bedroom. The Butler County Coroner has not yet identified the victims because he was trying to reach the victims’ family.
McAfee said extreme hoarding conditions were later found inside the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
