An early Monday morning crash in Prospect injured one person and backed up rush-hour traffic.
Chief of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Ken Wilson said the crash between a car and a tractor trailer happened at 6 a.m. on Route 422 in Franklin Township, just west of Unionville Road.
“It appeared the driver of the car, which was heading eastbound, had drifted over into the westbound lane and struck the tractor trailer on the side,” Wilson said.
Wilson said the car was heavily damaged and the woman inside was hurt.
“We had to extricate her from the vehicle by taking off the driver’s side door and the center post,” he said.
Crews had initially requested a medical helicopter at the scene of the crash but the helicopter couldn’t respond because of the weather. The woman was instead taken by ambulance to a hospital.
The truck driver was not hurt.
State police are investigating. They did not immediately release the names of those involved.
