Two suspected squatters are accused of operating a methamphetamine lab out of a vacant Butler house.
Ronald Tejchman, 33, and Nikki Jo West, 33, who also uses the alias last names of Hall and Haynes, were charged Tuesday by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.
Jeffrey Johnson with the Attorney General’s Office says Butler City Police initially found the pair inside a home on Third Avenue earlier this month.
“Our officers were then called in the same day and found a one-pot methamphetamine cooking vessel and many other substances we know to be used in the production of methamphetamine,” Johnson said.
It’s not known how long they were allegedly living there or using it as a meth lab, but Johnson says no matter the length of time, it was dangerous to neighbors.
“The way this works is you use a soda bottle to mix these substances together and the chemicals that go in to that method are extremely combustible and can create a serious danger for people who are in that area,” he said.
The pair remains in the Butler County Prison.
