Police are providing more information on a crash that shut down the Pennsylvania Turnpike Sunday afternoon.
State police say 36-year-old Andrew Graney of Evans City was speeding in the eastbound lane of the turnpike around 2:45 p.m. Sunday. He lost control of his vehicle and went into guide rail.
Graney’s car then went back across all three lanes of traffic and then was hit on its driver side door by a tractor trailer.
Graney was trapped inside the car and had to be extricated from the vehicle.
Police say he suffered severe internal injuries in the crash, and was flown to a Pittsburgh trauma center.
Graney is suspected of driving under the influence.
