A driver was seriously injured after being ejected from his pickup truck on Route 28 on Thanksgiving Day in Fawn Township.
The Kittanning State Police say that just after 4pm on Thursday, 26-year-old Jake Wicks of Indianola was traveling up the southbound ramp on Route 28 when he failed to yield to oncoming traffic.
Authorities say that Wicks then hit the driver side of another pickup while merging, and was then ejected from his truck into the center median. Wicks’ truck then continued across Route 28 and crashed into a guard rail in the center median.
Wicks was then taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of his serious injuries. His condition is currently unknown. A passenger in Wicks’ truck, who was uninjured, was taken to UPMC Presbyterian for examination. The other driver was uninjured.
Officials say that Wicks and his passenger were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Charges are pending.
