People concerned about preserving the Second Amendment are invited to attend a rally in downtown Butler this weekend.
Organizer Rich Wilson says that the event will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Diamond Park in Butler and continues until noon.
“We have a series of speakers,” Wilson said. “Sheriff Mike Slupe is going to speak along with a man from the PA Oathkeepers talking about the econd amendment and how the Oathkeepers operate. Ben Simon, the assistant District Attorney of Butler County, is also going to be speaking. He’s very knowledgeable about the second amendment.”
Butler City Mayor Tom Donaldson has designated Saturday as ‘Open Carry Day’ in an effort to show support for the second amendment and raise awareness to threats.
“As Mayor you get to give proclamations…it’s the fun part of being Mayor,” he said. “You recognize different events or people. For this rally, these are responsible, decent, law-abiding people and I would like to see a large turnout for this. It’s to help draw attention because this is very, very very important.”
This event is sponsored by the Butler County Chapter of Firearm Owners Against Crime. Those choosing to carry guns while attending are asked to do so responsibly. Any signs should be respectful and topical.
