A campaign to remind parents about the importance of vaccinations is underway.
“Vaccines are among the safest and most cost-effective ways to prevent disease and help protect our children against 14 communicable diseases that can be very serious or even deadly,” Dr. Karen Murphy of the Pennsylvania Secretary of Health said.
Parents should remember that immunization updates are widely available.
“All of the vaccines that are required for Pennsylvania school-aged children are being offered for children at the Department of Health clinics scheduled across the commonwealth through Sept. 2,” Murphy said.
Most insurance plans are required to cover back-to-school immunizations at no cost to consumers.
