A Dollar Tree store is planned for where Sheetz used to be at the intersection of Freeport Road (Route 356) and Saxonburg Road in Butler Township.
Members of the Butler Township Planning Commission approved the proposal during a meeting Tuesday after hearing from a representative of the company about plans to expand the current building.
Dollar Tree representatives will use existing entrances as they re-purpose the structure. No major changes are expected with lights or landscaping. The company is waiting to hear back from PennDOT about how traffic would be impacted by the change.
The plan will now move to the Butler Township commissioners for their approval.
