The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 Monday afternoon to avoid a four-game sweep by the Bucs. Pirates starter Franciso Liriano allowed four earned runs while pitching into the fifth inning and took the loss. His record fell to 4-8 this season with a 5.34 ERA. Liriano walked five and struck out three.
The Pirates begin a 10-game road trip tonight in Seattle. Game time is 10:10pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 9:45pm. Jon Niese will be the Pirate starter tonight.
