School districts are on high-alert today following a nationwide threat of violence in schools via the social media app TikTok.
The threat said that shootings and bombings would happen at every school across the country.
Locally, Butler Area Superintendent Dr. Brian White says there is no evidence that this trend is linked to Butler Area School District but school security officers will be on high alert throughout the day. Local police departments will also have an increased presence in and around schools on Friday.
The Seneca Valley School District meanwhile will be learning remotely for the day due to the threat. The virtual schedule will also be on a two hour delay.
Anyone who becomes aware of a threat or who has a specific concern is asked to contact the Superintendent’s office, a building principal, or any law enforcement officer.
