The Butler Area School District has agreed to a contract for sidewalk repairs that will be completed before the beginning of this school year.
The school board approved a contract with W.K. Thomas & Associates in Butler for a total of almost $209,000 to replace sidewalks at the pick-up and drop-off areas at Butler Middle School and Northwest Elementary School.
The repairs to North Street in Butler as well as at Northwest in Butler Township were mandated by the district’s insurance carrier to ensure student safety.
The district originally budgeted $185,000 for these projects but decided to add additional sidewalk replacement along North McKean Street. The additional money will come from funds that were not used for capital improvement projects during last school year.
