The Butler Area School Board has agreed to a new deal with their support professional employees.
The three-year agreement with the Support Professional Association affects roughly 150 secretaries, clerks, paraprofessionals and health technicians. Negotiations began in May for the new contract, which will be retroactively applied to take effect July 1, 2016.
The deal includes an annual average raise of three percent. Employees will contribute more to health insurance costs but the district plans to increase the total amount of money available for these employees to earn college credits.
Classes begin Thursday at the Butler Area School District.
