Some students in Butler County will go back to school this week but a district in Allegheny County has delayed the new school year because of the solar eclipse.
School was supposed to start today in the South Fayette Township School District but officials decided to push the first day back- by one day. Students will now start on Tuesday.
The district said the move was made due to safety concerns. The eclipse is expected to be seen in our area between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., which coincides with student dismissal times. Officials don’t want kids looking directly up at the sun and hurting their eyes.
