The city of Butler Parking Authority will meet again next week because there were not enough votes to authorize the signing of certificates to dissolve the organization.
At a meeting Wednesday night, Chairman Jimmy Chiprean and Secretary Jerry Johnston voted in favor of the motion, but authority members Kirk Keys and Tom May did not agree with the move. Authority member John Mossman was not in attendance.
Butler Mayor Tom Donaldson was present at the meeting and requested that the authority recess their meeting until Monday, Dec. 21 at 5:30 p.m. Since authority members serve at the discretion of the mayor, the mayor has released Keys and May from their positions and plans to appoint two new members for the Monday meeting.
The mayor included the requirement to dissolve the authority in the most recent bond rating in an effort to streamline and modernize parking operations in the city.
Butler City Council is still expected to vote in favor of the move at their regular monthly meeting Thursday.
