Labor Day is right around the corner and a small army of workers continue to labor and assemble the new VA Facility in Center Township.
“The day I was there, I want to say there was roughly 110 workers,” Butler VA Healthcare Director David Cord said. “There will be times that over 140 people are on that job site getting things done.”
Cord said he receives frequent updates on the progress at the site.
Some paving is currently underway, as well as landscaping. Other workers are getting the facility ready for the upcoming colder weather.
“They’ve actually started to put some of the windows in the rear of the building and along the sides,” he said. “I would imagine over the next couple months that they would be completely buttoned up.”
The facility is still on schedule to open about a year from now. The next VA Town Hall meeting will be held in October, which will continue further construction updates.
