Catholic Churches in neighboring Allegheny will remain open even after an order that cancels all events or activities of more than 25 people for one week.
Bishop David Zubik of the Diocese of Pittsburgh is strongly urging parishioners to consider their own health and the health of others when deciding about going to Mass this weekend.
The order specifically states that it does not apply to religious gatherings in places of worship but religious institutions are subject to requirements from the PA Department of Health.
Diocese of Pittsburgh churches will continue to follow social distancing guidelines as well as mandatory mask wearing and CDC cleaning and sanitizing procedures. The dispensation of the obligation to attend Mass remains in effect so anyone who feels ill should stay home.
