A plan by a group of local volunteers and businesses to stage weekly live entertainment in downtown Butler this summer is ready to become a reality.
A stage has been constructed in the parking lot of North Main and West Locust streets. Every Friday through the end of August, a show will be held as part of the Diehl Automotive Summer Concert series.
This free, family-friendly entertainment begins at 6 p.m. on Fridays and will be held in conjunction with themed evenings like bike nights, car cruises and Foodie Fridays.
Organizers maintain this will be a self-sustaining venture with expenses- like portable restrooms- paid for by the advertising sold on the stage. Volunteers are responsible for cleaning up and other groups can also use the stage at other times. Bringing chairs is encouraged as seating is limited.
This series will not be BYOB events, like the gatherings in the West New Castle Street Plaza in years past. Instead, food and alcohol vendors will be approved by organizers and available to those who attend.
