The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 11-1 Wednesday. Chris Archer returned from the Injured List to start the game for the Pirates, and allowed seven runs, five earned in 3-2/3rds innings. His record fell to 1-3, and his ERA climbed to 5.58. Josh Bell had two of the Pirates six hits. He now has a 15-game hitting streak, the longest in the major league’s this season.
Over their seven games with Arizona this season, the Pirates were outscored 52-17. They won one of the seven games.
The loss dropped the Bucs to 21-19 overall. They trail the Chicago Cubs by four games.
The Pirates open a four-game series with the San Diego Padres tonight. First pitch is 10:10pm. Airtime on WISR is 9:45pm. Trevor Williams will start for the Bucs.
