Butler County Commissioner, and local volunteer firefighter, Kevin Boozel did not mince words Tuesday while addressing the drug crisis Butler County is facing.
“The desire for this drug is stronger than eating, sleeping, anything that motivates us as human beings, by 10 times…so how do you combat it?” Boozel said. “You’re trying to address a problem logically when it’s the most illogical problem that we face.”
Boozel, along with fellow Commissioners Leslie Osche and Kim Geyer, are addressing the opioid epidemic in Butler County head-on.
The county is one of the sponsors of a series of public forums that will begin Thursday in Butler.
“This is about getting awareness up, getting understanding up,” Boozel said. “There’s a lot of misinformation out there. This is about educating the public so we can all work together to combat this.”
The addiction forum will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Butler Intermediate High School. The Butler Radio Network is a sponsor.
It is free and open to the public.
