The former Deshon Woods property continues to attract interest as the Butler Township Planning Commission has given approval to a plan that would allow a zoning change.
Businessman Ted Cranmer– who now owns the property- addressed the planning commission during a meeting Tuesday night.
An ordinance was introduced by Butler Township Commissioners last month to change the current ‘Residential One’ zoning of the 21-acre property on Route 68 to ‘Commercial One.’
After plans to build a new VA facility on the site fell apart two years ago, the property was purchased by a group led by Cranmer for $1.2 million at a sheriff’s sale in March of this year. Cranmer hopes to have a definitive plan for the property in the next several months.
“We have about 30 people interested in it but nobody’s come to the forefront,” Cranmer said. “Our goal is to have something done by the end of the year.”
The next step in the zoning process change is a public hearing before the Butler Township Commissioners scheduled for Sept.19 at 7 p.m.
