The Butler Township commissioners have given approval for a zoning change of the former Deshon Woods property.
An ordinance was approved by the Butler Township commissioners during a hearing Monday night. The 21-acre property on Evans City Road (Route 68) will now be zoned commercial instead of residential.
The Butler Township Planning Commission gave their approval to the request earlier this month before it returned to the township commissioners for the final hearing.
After plans to build a new VA facility on that site fell apart two years ago, the property was purchased for $1.2 million at a sheriff’s sale earlier this year. According to businessman Ted Cranmer who is part of the group who made that purchase, 26 people have expressed varying levels of interest in the development of the property.
