A long vacant piece of property in Butler Township may finally be moving toward development.
Tuesday night the Butler Township Planning Commission recommended approval of a subdivision plan proposed by Deshon Woods Development LLC for the nearly 21 acre property along Evans City Road.
The proposal would create a nearly two acre piece of property that would continue to be leased to the army reserve while another nearly 19 acre piece of property zoned Commercial would be available for potential development. A potential buyer has expressed interest in the property but no details were made available. This subdivision plan will next move to a vote by Township Commissioners later this month.
The Deshon Woods site had all the trees cleared and ground prepared for the construction of a new VA facility but then has sat empty and overgrown for years. In 2016, a small group of local businessmen bought the property for $1.2 million at a sheriff’s sale.
