A longtime member of the Butler County Sherriff’s office has died.
Michael Smith of Fenelton had been a deputy in the department for the last 21 years, before he died unexpectedly on Friday evening.
Butler County Sherriff Mike Slupe said Smith was well respected in the community and was a team player who constantly thought of others.
Friends of Smith will be received at the Hile Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. However, the viewing chapel will be limited to 10 people at a time.
Smith was 49.
