After Daniel Smith Jr. withdrew his name from the Butler County prothontary race to run for congress, the Butler County Democratic Committee has found familiar name to replace him on the ballot.
Paula Painter, who unsuccessfully ran for the Republican nomination in the spring, was named as Smith’s replacement to be the Democratic nominee this fall.
According to a press release, the committee decided Painter was the best candidate, regardless of past party affiliation.
Painter has worked in the prothonotary office for the last 18 years and will face the Republican nominee, Kelly Ferrari in the general election.
