The Pennsylvania Democratic Party is calling for State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe’s resignation over alleged homophobic remarks.
Gov. Tom Wolf took to social media and urged GOP leaders to consider stripping Metcalfe of his committee chairmanship, calling Metcalfe’s behavior “part of a disturbing pattern.”
Metcalfe’s remarks came on Tuesday during a committee meeting when State Rep. Matt Bradford touched his arm. Metcalfe is shown on video saying, “I don’t like men, as you might,” and then continued “you have people on your side of the aisle that might like it. I don’t.”
Democrats characterized Metcalfe’s comments an anti-gay, but Metcalfe says he just wants the inappropriate touching to stop and said he was planning on saying something for months.
Bradford denies Metcalfe’s claim of repeated touching.
