The debate over raising the state’s minimum wage is continuing.
Labor economist Mark Price with the Keystone Research Center says there has been job growth in the five neighboring states where the minimum wage has increased– Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and West Virginia.
But, Alex Halper of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, says they oppose an increase in the minimum wage.
Halper says more low-income Pennsylvania families should take advantage of the federal earned income tax credit.
Minimum wage in Pennsylvania is $7.25 per hour. It hasn’t increased for 10 years.
