The trial date for the alleged Tree of Life shooter has been subject to debate between prosecutors and the defense.
The government is hoping to go to trial this October, meanwhile the defense lawyers for accused shooter Robert Bowers are asking for the trial to start in 2023.
The new judge did not impose any deadlines but told both parties to come to an agreement soon.
It’s been three-and-a-half years since the deadly mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue in 2018. Since that time, Bowers has been in the Butler County Jail.
