Butler County residents awoke to dangerously cold temperatures Monday morning.
The actual air temperature was 0 or below, and when you factored in the wind, it felt as cold as –20.
The National Weather Service office in Pittsburgh has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Butler and some surrounding counties, which continues through 1 p.m. Monday.
In temperatures this cold, frostbite is a very real concern. Officials say it could occur on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. You’re encouraged to cover any skin before you head outside.
Unfortunately, temperatures are not expected to warm up on Monday. A high of only 14 degrees expected, with a low Monday night of –2.
Conditions should vastly improve on Tuesday, with a high near 30.
