Jeff Gordon will replace Dale Earnhardt, Jr. the next two races after Jr. was not cleared to drive at Indianapolis this weekend for the Brickyard 400 because of concussion-like symptoms.
Jr. will also sit out the following week in Pocono with Gordon driving the #88 Hendrick Motorsports ride that week as well. Gordon had retired after last season.
Earnhardt, Jr. was examined by doctors at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center “Medicine Concussion Program Tuesday. He had been involved in crashes recently at Daytona and Michigan.
