Nascar’s most popular driver is going to retire. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. announced today that he will step away from the drivers seat at the end of the 2017 season. Jr has spent 18 seasons and more than 600 races behind the wheel. He began his Cup career driving for his father before moving to Hendrick Motorsports in 2008. He has won two Daytona 500’s among 26 career wins, but has never won the season championship. He has been voted the sports most popular 14 consecutive years, which is a Nascar record.
