A woman who was convicted of a first-degree felony will spend seven days in jail following her sentencing last week.
Brittany Young was facing years in prison after she fired a gun at a man in Evans City in July 2021. According to charging documents at that time, Young was at a friend’s house when she got into an argument with a neighbor.
The altercation escalated leading Young to pull out a gun. The firearm jammed a couple of times before firing a shot that the neighbor says landed just five feet away from him.
According to our news partners at WPXI, Judge Tim McCune ruled that because Young did not have a criminal history and has young children, he believed this to be an isolated incident.
District Attorney Rich Goldinger said his office plans on appealing the decision.
