The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Chicago Cubs 4-1 Tuesday at Wrigley Field, increasing their deficit to nine games out of first place in the National League Central Division. For the second consecutive night, the Bucs managed just six hits and one run. This time they managed just two hits off Cubs starter Jake Arrieta over six innings. John Jaso hit a seventh inning home run to break the shutout. He went two-for-two with a run scored.
Pirates starter Chad Kuhl allowed three runs on seven hits over 5-1/3rd innings. He walked three and struck out seven. His record fell to 6-10.
The two teams play again tonight at Wrigley Field at 8:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 7:40pm.
