The Chicago Cubs hammered the Pittsburgh Pirates 14-3 to open a three-game series at PNC Park last night. The Cubs jumped on Pirates starting pitcher Chad Kuhl for nine earned runs on eight hits in just 1-2/3rds innings. Cubs shortstop Addison Russell had four hits in the game. Outfielders Jason Heyward drove in four runs and Ben Zobrist drove in three.Rookie Jose Osuna had three hits, including a triple and double for the Bucs.
The Pirates host the Cubs again tonight with Gerrit Cole going to the mound for the Bucs. Kyle Hendricks will start for Chicago. First pitch is 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm.
Prior to Monday’s game, the Pirates placed Adam Frazier on the 10-day disabled list with a hamstring injury.
