Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is one of the three finalists for the Hart Trophy. The award is voted on by members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association, and is given to the player considered most valuable to his team. Crosby had 100 points, good for the fifth-most points in the league. He is now a seven-time Hart Trophy finalist. He won the award twice. Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov and Edmonton’s Connor McDavid are the other finalists.
In the Stanley Cup Playoffs:
–Carolina defeated the New York Islanders 2-1 Sunday and have taken a 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series. That series moves to Carolina Wednesday.
–Colorado defeated San Jose 4-3 and tied their Western Conference series at 1-1.
