No one was injured when a vacant house went up in flames on Tuesday.
The fire started just after 10 a.m. at a two-story home on Stamm Road in Slippery Rock Township.
“It was a vacant house. A guy just bought the property and he wanted to tear it down. He was burning brush beside the house and a hot ember got inside and caught it on fire,” Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company Chief Ryan Hanchosky said.
The home reportedly sits on nearly 100 acres of property. Hanchosky says the house was completely destroyed and will be soon torn down.
Slippery Rock firefighters were assisted by crews from Harrisville and Unionville in Butler County, and Pine Township and Grove City in Mercer County. Slippery Rock EMS was also there.
The scene was cleared in about an hour.
