Firefighters across Butler County were busy with several woods and field fires Monday afternoon.
The first call came into to the Butler County 911 Center shortly after 1 p.m. for woods on fire along Hepler Road in Buffalo Township. Then just before 2 p.m. another call came in for brush and woods on fire along Wyncrest Drive in Butler Township.
Shortly after 2 p.m. crews were called out to a woods and cornfield fire in an area of over two acres along Slippery Rock Road in Slippery Rock Township. A few minutes later a brush fire was reported in Clearfield Township near a utility pole on Schiebel Road.
Dry and windy weather usually makes spring a dangerous time of year for brush and grass fires around our area, but if conditions are right, fires can start easily now as well.
