A Cranberry Township woman is awaiting trial on multiple counts of felony welfare fraud.
According to the Pennsylvania Office of State Inspector General, Cranberry Township resident Kimberly Coleman applied for and accepted nearly $200,000 in state child care and SNAP (formerly food stamp) assistance between June of 2014 and November of 2018.
During that same time period, Coleman allegedly owned and operated a residential care business, which received over a million dollars from the Department of Human Services. Agents maintain Coleman failed to report her employment, assets and income, as well as provided false information to continue to receive fraudulent benefits.
The maximum penalty for each offense is seven years in prison and a $15,000 fine. Coleman will be tried in the Allegheny Court of Common Pleas.
