Another area convenience store has acquired a state license to sell beer and wine.
The Sheetz on Freedom Road in Cranberry Township purchased a license at a public auction that previously belonged to the Mexican restaurant On The Border.
The license would allow consumption on the premises as well as take-out. About half of the 500 Sheetz stores nationwide are allowed to sell alcoholic beverages.
Local government is required by state law to sign off on the transfer of any liquor license. Final action on this matter is expected at the Cranberry Township Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday.
