Another local municipality has been awarded a large amount of money in low-interest funding to complete a wastewater construction project.
The low-interest loan to Cranberry Township for nearly $36 million will be funded through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (also known as PENNVEST), which awards money for major infrastructure improvement projects.
According to local lawmaker Stephenie Scialabba, the funding will allow the municipality to upgrade the Brush Creek Water Pollution Control Facility, specifically the equipment related to solids processing.
PENNVEST provides grants and low interest loans for design, engineering, and construction of publicly and privately owned water distribution and treatment facilities, as well as stormwater and wastewater projects.
