Butler County has now reached more than 600 deaths due to COVID.
That was according to the latest update from the Department of Health, which said the death toll currently sits at 602.
However, the number of new COVID cases went down over the past week in the county. There were 598 new cases over the past seven days, which is down by about 160 cases compared to last week.
Local hospitalizations have gone down as well. As of yesterday morning Butler Memorial Hospital was treating 36 patients for the coronavirus with six in the ICU. The hospital though reported six additional deaths this week.
Statewide hospitalizations are currently above 4,400, but that’s down by about 150 compared to last Friday.
