Butler County has been recognized with a special honor by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Veterans Day National Committee selected Butler as a Regional Site for the celebration of Veterans Day this year.
As part of this designation, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs will notify Governor Tom Wolf of the selection and encourage support for Butler’s Veterans Day activities. The Secretary will also ask the Department of Defense to provide military liaison officers to help with local events.
Every year on Nov. 11, Butler County holds a Veterans Day Parade downtown, as well as events at VA Butler Healthcare. The county also recognizes a Veteran of the Year.
