Butler County may become the first county in the state to require all employees to be trained in how to properly administer the overdose reversal drug Naloxone.
The Butler County Commissioners unanimously voted to implement a Naloxone Policy at Wednesday’s meeting. Commissioner Boozel said to his knowledge, no other county in the commonwealth has done this yet.
It will cost the county about $3,000 for the training, which will include a video instructing employees how to effectively recognize when someone has overdosed.
County employees will also have the option of carrying Nalaxone with them, but it’s not mandatory.
