Butler County wants to get ahead of any potential problems with its water.
In light of recent county school districts finding high levels of lead and copper in their drinking water, the Butler County commissioners have decided to have a company test the water at all county-owned buildings.
Solicitor Mike English said the county is supplied with public water and is not required by law to do such tests, but due to the fact that the county has a large number of employees and the public in its buildings daily, the commissioners want to be proactive.
The contract with company Gannett Fleming of Harrisburg will not exceed $2,000.
