Butler County will work with the Butler Transit Authority to help expand service.
The county commissioners unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding with the transit authority, Butler Township and Butler City at their meeting Wednesday.
The county’s involvement will allow for expansion of the bus service outside the city and township with less barriers.
The commissioners said Butler County has been lagging behind other counties in terms of public transportation. A state pilot program currently in discussions could soon result in several routes from Butler into the city of Pittsburgh.
