Butler County is preparing to do additional work on the downtown Butler County Government Center Annex.
The annex building is attached to the Butler County Government Center, which is attached- and sits behind- the Butler County Courthouse on Main Street in Butler.
County facilities and operations director John Campbell was granted permission by the commissioners on Wednesday to take the project out to bid once he receives the final plans.
Initial plans were to build out the bottom floor of the annex so it could house several county departments- including planning, tax assessment, mapping and tax claims. Those departments are currently housed in the Butler County Government Center.
Campbell said it hasn’t been decided what will go into those former offices once they move.
The county commissioners previously said the goal of the build out was to create a more “efficient and collaborative space.”
