Butler County Commissioners say it may have been the rise in pay, but there has been more interest in lifeguarding positions at Alameda Waterpark.
After a shortage of workers last year, the county raised the hourly wage for lifeguards in hopes of spurring interest in the position and returning to full operating hours. A lifeguard now makes $12.50 per hour, and lead lifeguards can earn $14 per hour.
This past week, the commissioners approved the hiring of five people to work as lifeguards this summer.
The county is also offering other special incentives, including training.
However, the parks department is still looking to hire more individuals. More info can be found on the county’s website.
