Funding has been secured for a large project in northern Butler County that will improve roads and could boost economic development.
Butler County has announced that Cherry Township will receive a $1 million Commonwealth Financing Authority Multimodal Transportation Fund grant award.
This money will be used for the Harrisville Road Reconstruction Project which includes three miles of widening and road reconstruction as well as cleaning of existing ditches, improving drainage, instillation of new culverts, and reconstruction of the intersection at Pleasant Valley Road.
Butler County Commissioners credit the $5 use fee added to vehicle registrations within the county as raising the necessary local match money ($25,000) for this state grant.
