Butler County has reached a settlement with the estate of a former employee who said they were fired because of discrimination.
Solicitor Wil White said that Debra Bisch was a county employee from 2002 until 2018, when she was fired from the Treasurer’s office.
White said Bisch filed a lawsuit late last year seeking over $75,000, plus attorney fees and punitive damages. In the suit, Bisch alleged that she was fired due to a disability.
But in the time since the lawsuit was filed, Bisch had died.
At the public meeting today, the county commissioners approved a $12,500 settlement with Bisch’s estate.
Solicitor White said the settlement was the wisest course of action for the county.
