A recent grant will allow the Butler County Prison to purchase a new body scanner.
The $337,000 federal award was approved to the county through a COVID Mitigation Grant.
The grant will go toward purchasing two body scanner that also have a thermal scanner. Commissioners said at the time the grant application was approved that they believe it would help combat drugs being brought into the prison, along with adding another tool to detect covid.
There was no timeline available as to when the body scanners would be installed at the prison.
